Quick Launch Bar was one of the most useful tools built in windows (prior to seven) and is widely used but now this feature as it seems have been missing from the latest release does it really so? Though not so it was just sidelined in favor to TASKBAR PINNED APPLICATION but you can easily get back Quick launch bar if you want to do so... so let you know how?
1. First of all click right anywhere on the task bar but before you do so make sure you have unlocked it before continuing, and click over > New Toolbars.
2. Now the shortcut link pop-ups browse to the following location
windows install drive>\users\
and choose the quick launch folder
3. Now you should be able to see a basic quick launch bar. You can drag it using the dotted lines to the required size.
4. Again right click on the free space in task bar, and remove the tick next to show titles and do the same for show text.
5. Now you can add as many icons as you want to the quick launch bar by dragging icons from desktop or by copying a shortcut to the above mentioned folder.
Isn't it very easy to get back your favorite shortcut icon, which had served you from the very early days of windows.....
