Steps to disable SEND ERROR REPORT in Windows XP and Vista

There is no doubt that Microsoft Windows is the most used operating system and they tries to implement whatever is possible to enhance its feature and among all such features one is "Send Error Report" used to provide data to Microsoft what has caused an application to become unstable. But does this fulfilling their intention as most of us just get annoyed when we saw it. As firstly we have already lost our work because of the instability and secondly then we have to send this report. How can be everyone always be positive and would say "ALL IS WELL"...... And this is also not necessary that at the time this pop up comes the system is online and it may also be possible that it has not any Internet connection at all. So if you are also among those who just get irritated then why don't you disable it the first time you have seen it so follow up the procedure:




Disable Microsoft Error report in Windows XP:
1) Open Control Panel (Start > Control Panel)
2) Open the Problem Reports & Solutions applet Under advanced options and disable error reporting.


Disable Microsoft Error report in Windows Vista:
1) Right click on my computer and click properties
2) Click the Advanced Tab
3) You’ll see a “Error reporting” button at the bottom, click it
4) Select Disable Error Reporting.

Restore the missing Video Thumbnails in Windows Explorer

bHave any one of noticed a feature in windows explorer, the preview of the first frame of any type of video in thumbnail mode. But what caused me to discuss it here is because of a problem I am facing as instead of the previews of the videos there is only a file icon with the program link to which it will open. As i have a lot of videos stored in the PC thus it became very complicated to find the real video I need at any particular time. And this is always a problem to have watch each and every video to find the content of the video. This was really a havoc for me and I was in desperate need to find the cause of this malfunctioning. And after goggling a lot finally I came to a solution courtesy goes to advancetechnology.today.com ..... Let's find what I have done to overcome this situation.

First of all I was said to check whether a link library 'shmedia.dll' file exists in the windows/system 32 folder or not. This is the file responsible for the video preview in Windows explorer. Though it was there in my system file folder but in case if it not on your PC you can download from the link given at the end. Once the file installed successfully in windows system32 folder run a command 'regsvr32 shmedia.dll'from windows (windows key + r) run command. It will install the preview module with in the registry and with this thumbnails of *.avi files will be shown successfully. But what for other video file types .....you have to manually change the settings from the registry.

Open registry editor and locate HKEY_CLASS_ROOT and expand it all there you will find all the registered file extension that exists on your system and now suppose you want to have a preview of a .mpg file . Locate this extension .mpg in the above category and expand it. Using mouse right click over the .mpg folder and choose new key and name it {BB2E617C-0920-11d1-9A0B-00C04FC2D6C1} click over this newly created key in the right span window you will find a default value double click over it and change its value as c5a40261-cd64-4ccf-84cb-c394da41d590 and close the registry. Now you can see the preview of all the mpg files in windows explorer. With the same values you can change each and every video file extension like dat, flv, mpeg, or any other to have a preview in windows explorer.
